On October 6, 2026, Raiju Co., Ltd. joined the Japan Layout Alliance (JLA), whose secretariat is operated by GreenEchoes Studio.
With this addition, the JLA public registry lists 17 participating organizations and brands from Japan and abroad.
The JLA is a private voluntary association working to improve compatibility around the spacebar on Japanese-layout keyboards.
GreenEchoes Studio draws on its experience running the specialist media outlet Greenkeys to advance this work as the JLA secretariat.
Raiju Co., Ltd., maker of the split Japanese-layout keyboard series NISABI, joins the JLA
Raiju Co., Ltd. is a Japanese company behind the NISABI series of split, low-profile keyboards with a Japanese layout.
In February 2026, it launched the NISABI V2, featuring LAK keycaps.
The company is developing products that bring split keyboards into everyday typing environments while retaining the usability of the Japanese layout.
Raiju Co., Ltd. is now listed in the JLA registry under “Participating Brands,” with compatibility classes JLA-450 and JLA-425 (both supported).
This listing indicates participation by the brand; it does not certify or guarantee the compatibility of any individual product.
The JLA’s work to make Japanese-layout compatibility more visible
On Japanese-layout keyboards, spacebar lengths and stabilizer mounting positions can vary by manufacturer and product, sometimes limiting the choice of replacement keycaps.
Based on dimensions already found in the market, the JLA proposes two compatibility classes:
- JLA-450: 4.5u spacebar / approximately 70 mm stabilizer support-point span
- JLA-425: 4.25u spacebar / approximately 60 mm stabilizer support-point span
These are not new, proprietary standards; the initiative organizes specifications that already exist into shared reference points.
The goal is to respect flexibility in product design while making it easier for manufacturers, keycap brands, retailers, and users to assess compatibility.
17 participating organizations and brands from Japan and abroad
JLA participants include keyboard-related companies and brands from Japan and abroad, such as Keyreative, Gateron, NuPhy, Lofree, Keychron, and Elecom.
As of October 6, 2026, the public registry lists 17 entries: three reference providers, nine founding members, and five participating brands.
With Raiju Co., Ltd. joining, a Japanese split-keyboard brand using the Japanese layout has also become part of the alliance.
Building an environment where Japanese-layout keyboards can be used for years to come
As the JLA secretariat, GreenEchoes Studio coordinates with companies and brands in Japan and abroad, organizes compatibility information, and maintains the public registry.
Making it easier for users of Japanese-layout keyboards to find replacement keycaps and related parts over the long term is one important challenge for the sustainable development of the domestic market.
The JLA will continue to share information with businesses in Japan and abroad and make compatibility more visible, while respecting each brand’s distinctiveness.
The JLA is a privately run, non-profit voluntary association with no affiliation to public bodies such as JIS (Japanese Industrial Standards) or JISC.
It does not require participating companies to redesign products to meet specific specifications, nor is it a system for certifying product quality or safety.
